HDBRTS starts testing new Feeder buses

Hubballi Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (HDBRTS), the only BRT system in Karnataka is likely to get dedicated Feeder buses soon.

Named as ‘Chigari Samparka‘ the feeder buses will be operated by NWKRTC (built on Ashok Leyland ALPSV 4/185 chassis). NWKRTC was seen testing it on BRTS Corridor near Vidyanagar yesterday.

The bus was painted with Green and Purple livery with seats facing each other (than conventional seats that face towards the driver). Blue LED strip illuminated the entry and exit points which enhanced the look of the bus.

The bus had the logo of ‘Chigari‘ the brand mascot for the BRTS system in between Hubballi and Dharwad. Purple represents the BRTS livery and Green represents the Feeder network.

The bus had separate entry and exit points at the Front and Rear part respectively. Passengers need to hop-on at the front section and hop-down from the rear section.

NWKRTC had also started Feeder buses from the Navalur village to the nearest BRTS station. The feeder buses were introduced to facilitate the villagers to get access to the BRTS stop.

Nagabhushan, A Twitter user had recently asked HDBRTS to start feeder buses from Kadasiddeshwar College to Tolanakere and Navanagar Main Road to Navanagar BRTS Station.

  1. In my view and experience with Hubli Dharwad City bus services are very worst in south India.
1.No permanent Route no.affixed on Front ,back & entry side& no display or conductors are not shouting to explain commuters which destination that particular bus is going. It very much happening near HPO/LIC bus stop.
2.Its a routine custom that we only get scrapped buses from Blore. very often,as if Hbl- Dwd citizens are second graded commuters.
3.No timings & route display boards in important city Bus stops & no punctuality maintenance by driver or Time keeper.Conductors get their correct time entry in Trip Sheet by tips to Time keeper.
