Soon, all the conventional streetlamps of Hubballi Dharwad will be replaced with the Energy efficient LED streetlights.
Government of Karnataka has accorded administrative approval for the same under the Implementation of Energy Efficiency in Street Lighting project.
The project will be undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹93.57 Crores. Hubballi Dharwad will also get a Centralized Control & Monitoring System (CCMS) to turn on/off streetlights.
The project will be undertaken under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The concessionaire/service provider will be paid out of accrued savings in the electricity bill.
Announcing the same on Twitter, Union Minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi said that “A proposal was sent to CM Basavaraj Bommai to replace conventional streetlamps with LED streetlights”.
“On behalf of Hubballi Dharwad citizens, I thank the Karnataka government for approving the ambitious project of LED streetlights to Hubballi Dharwad which helps to save electricity” he added.
Karnataka government will also replace the Conventional streetlamps of Shivamogga with LED streetlights. The project will be undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹47.85 Crores.
