Here is some good news, Electrification works have been started at SSS Hubballi Junction. Hubballi is getting electrified under Hospet Hubballi Vasco Da Gama Doubling and Electrification project.
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is executing the Electrification project. Electric poles have already been installed at Hubballi Junction premises.
Electrification of a small section in between SSS Hubballi Railway station and Unkal Railway Station (around 4-5km) was pending. Now poles have been erected in the section.
RVNL has also electrified a 10km section between Hubballi East to Hubballi West Cabin (A bypass to be used by Goods trains to skip Hubballi Junction) at a cost of ₹150 Crores.
The sections in between Bellary – Hulkoti (near Gadag) and Dharwad to Londa via Alnawar have already been electrified and CRS inspection for the same has also been completed.
Goods trains are now allowed to enter Amargol from Kusugal (Towards Vasco from Gadag side) without entering Hubballi Railway Station. This facilitates Hubballi to handle more passenger trains and even Goods trains can move fast.
South Western Railways (SWR) has already completed Yard remodeling and Electronic Interlocking of the Hubballi Railway Station. The work of the World’s Longest Platform has almost finished and is expected to be inaugurated soon.
