Clean Drinking Water project for Dharwad District gets cabinet approval

The State Cabinet today approved the Clean Drinking Water project for all the villages of the Dharwad District. The project has been approved under the Jal Jeevan Mission and NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance project at a cost of ₹1032 Crores.

The project will provide Clean Drinking Water to 388 villages 144 Gram Panchayats in the district, and including Kundagol, Navalgund, and Kalaghatagi towns.

Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi was in constant touch with the Ministers and Officials as the implementation of this project is crucial for the Dharwad district. As per him, the water will be supplied from the Malaprabha Reservoir of Savadatti.

The project will supply Clean Drinking Water to 1,79,130 households of 388 villages (including 114 from Dharwad, 47 from Hubballi, 88 from Kalaghatagi, 51 from Kundagol, and 59 from Navalgund Taluks).

The JalJeevan mission aims at providing 55Litres per day of Water to every individual in the district. The project also aims at renovating water bodies in the district including upgrading existing Overhead tanks, and building new ones if necessary.

Pralhad Joshi has thanked CM BS Yediyurappa for approving the project. He also thanked Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj K.Eshwarappa, Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar, and Navalgund MLA Shankar Patil Munenakoppa for their co-operation.
