It is a dream come true moment for the group of 10 classically trained dancers from Hubballi, as they have received an invitation to perform at the Republic Day Parade -2022.
Competing with 73 groups comprising of 949 dancers from 4 zones; The troupe from Hubballi had performed exceptionally well at the Grand finale of the Vande Bharatam event held in New Delhi on December 19th, 2021.

A total of 36 teams have been selected to perform at the Republic day parade through a nationwide competition called ‘Vande Bharatam – Nrithya Utsava’.
The dancers from the Mayur Nritya Academy, Hubballi had performed Classical Bharatanatyam dance form. The groups had to choose one of the 4 categories namely Classical, Folk, Tribal, and Fusion/Contemporary.
The Vande Bharatam competition began at the district level on November 17th and saw the participation of more than 3,870 contestants in 323 groups. Those who cleared the district-level screening took part in the state-level competition from November 30th.
Over 300 groups were selected for the state-level competition, further 2,507 artists from 205 groups were selected for the Zonal level competition. Only the top 36 teams were selected to perform at the Republic Day Parade.
Vande Bharatam is a unique initiative of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Culture organized as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava to commemorate 75 years of Indian independence.
The prime objective of the competition was to select the top dancing talent from across the country and provide them the opportunity to perform during the Republic Day Parade 2022.
