The work of Navalur Flyover (Railway Over Bridge) is progressing at a snail’s pace. The inordinate delay in completing the work has baffled the citizens of Hubballi Dharwad.
As of now, Barrier construction and Earth filling is going on towards the Hubballi end of the flyover. Land levelling is going on towards the Dharwad end of flyover.
Even though HDBRTS was officially inaugurated on 2nd February 2020, Navalur ROB or flyover which is part of the HDBRTS project is yet to be completed owing to various reasons.
The trial run of HDBRTS was started on 2nd October 2018. It can be recalled HDBRTS flyover at Navalur developed cracks within a year, officials had closed the Flyover to repair it.
Lack of HDBRTS bus stop near Navalur forced the villagers to either take NWKRTC or Bendre buses. To hop on to the BRTS bus, Navalur citizens were forced to board at SDM or KMF BRTS stations.
To solve the issue, HDBRTS is planning a kiosk-like ticketing arrangement near Navalur. A similar setup is already in use near the BSNL office at Ambedkar circle in Hubballi.
Another incident was reported in September 2020 when Concrete blocks on the flyover got detached due to the incessant rains that lashed the twin cities of Hubballi Dharwad.
Residents of Navalur and surrounding areas are requesting the authorities to complete the Flyover work and the Construction of a Bus station as soon as possible.
Hubballi Dharwad BRTS (HDBRTS) is a Bus Rapid Transit System built to serve the twin cities of Hubballi Dharwad at a cost of ₹980 Crores with the help of the World Bank.
There is Urgent need of connecting PURANDARMANTAP in YalakkiShetter colony with Dharwad BTS & Navalur/SDM Medical Collage through City Bus via Hosayallapur.
URGENT means Urgent/ShortPeriod.
