Bengaluru to Hubballi Railway Doubling work is going at a rapid pace. Doubling work between Bengaluru to Hubballi is expected to be completed by March 2023.
The Bengaluru Hubballi Railway line is a vital link that connects the State Capital with North Karnataka districts. As of now, the section between Bengaluru and Saunshi is fully doubled.
Rail distance between Bengaluru to Hubballi is around 470km. Out of which ~450km of the section is fully doubled, and commissioned for the commercial usage.
Recently, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) conducted a statutory inspection of the newly laid railway line between Devaragudda and Haveri (approximately 24.4km).
So, the only section that is yet to be doubled is between Hubballi South and Saunshi (~20km). So out of 470km, 450km of the Railway line is fully doubled which comes out to be 95.74%.
As far as Electrification is concerned, South Western Railway has successfully commissioned Electric traction between Yeshwantpura (incl.) and Davanagere (excl).
Railway electrification works are going on at a brisk pace between Davanagere and Hubballi. As per sources in the SWR, the works are expected to be completed by end of March 2023.
South Western Railway (SWR) has plans to run Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Hubballi Dharwad. The train is likely to be announced by April 2023.
For that to happen, the Doubling and Electrification of the section needs to be completed. And South Western Railway (SWR) is making all efforts to complete the works within the timeframe.
