Bhoomi pooja for the much awaited Dharwad Belagavi direct railway line is likely to be performed on January 12th, 2023 informed Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi yesterday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Dharwad Belagavi direct railway line. He is visiting Hubballi on January 12th to inaugurate the Youth festival and a few projects.
At present, there is no direct rail line between Dharwad and Belagavi, and the train takes a circuitous route via Londa, Khanapur. The new railway line will reduce the distance by 32km.
Sometimes the journey takes up to 3 hours for a distance of just 78km. People were demanding a direct railway line between two important cities of North Karnataka for a long.
About Dharwad Belagavi Direct Railway Line: 90km long Dharwad Belagavi direct railway line will have 11 railway stations (including 4 existing railway stations). They are as follows.
Dharwad, Kyarkoppa, Mammigatti, Tegur, Kittur, Hulikatti, MK Hubballi, Bagewadi, Kanavikarvinkoppa, Desur and Belagavi. Kyarkoppa and Desur will be the junctions.
MoS Late Shri Suresh Angadi had ordered a survey for the Dharwad Belagavi Railway line in 2019. He managed to sanction the Railway line at a cost of ₹927.40 Crores in September 2020.
As it is a cost-sharing project, then Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri B S Yediyurappa had sanctioned ₹463 Crores to the railway line in the Karnataka Budget 2021-22.
