Nehru Stadium redevelopment going on at a snail’s pace

The redevelopment of Nehru Stadium, one of the iconic sports facilities of Hubballi City (near Lamington Road) is going on at a snail’s pace.

Hubballi Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) has taken up the redevelopment of Nehru Ground/Stadium of Hubballi City. The project is being executed at the cost of ₹20.26 Crores.

As of now, two blocks of the stadium are under construction. Work on rebuilding stands is in progress. Apart from it, a significant portion of the stadium is yet to be developed as per plan.

As per the plan, the redeveloped Nehru Stadium will have a Football court, Volleyball Court, Basketball Court, Athletic track, and facilities to conduct the Long jump.

The stadium will have also 2 Cricket pitches for Net practice, Outdoor Gym, and Kabaddi Ground. The above-mentioned facilities will be limited to outdoor activities.

As far as Indoor sports facilities are concerned, the redeveloped ground will have a Mat Kabaddi field, Wrestling mat, Karate training area, Badminton court, Chesa and Carrom boards.

The redeveloped ground will also have an exclusive VIP block which will have all the facilities like VIP Lounge, Coaching area, Table Tennis Court, Gymnastics area, and a Gym.

The other facilities of the stadium include New Roofing for the spectators, a Feature wall with a Flag post, Refurbishment of existing seating, and a Washroom block.

Once completed, the redeveloped Nehru Stadium/Ground will be one of the iconic sports facilities in the entire North Karnataka region.
