Electric vehicle manufacturer Tsuyo has established a production line to manufacture high-wattage EV (Electric Vehicle) powertrains at its Dharwad plant in Karnataka.
The facility has been built at an initial investment of USD 8 Million (₹67.23 Crores). The unit is one of its kind production line in the country to manufacture Powertrains for Electric Vehicles.
Tsuyo will manufacture motors ranging from a rated power of 30 kW to 350 kW, catering to the needs of heavy-duty commercial vehicles such as trucks, electric buses, and other vehicles.
The production line, expected to be operational by year-end, will introduce six categories of Powertrain systems and is expected to create 150 to 200 local jobs, according to a press release.
Tsuyo is also interested in investing an additional USD 2 Million (₹16.8 Crores) for R&D (Research and Development) and Testing validation facilities in the plant.
Elated at its launch, Vijay Kumar CEO of Tsuyo said “By offering advanced Powertrain facility locally, we are contributing to the country’s vision of Self-reliance in the EV sector”.
The powertrain of an electric vehicle consists of various components that work together to convert Electrical energy into Mechanical energy for Propulsion.

The Powertrain is made up of several components including Battery pack, Inverters, Electric motors, DC Converter, Auxiliary batteries, DC to DC converter, Transmission medium, etc.
