In a significant development for Academic-Industry Collaboration, a delegation of senior executives from Tata Hitachi paid a visit to the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT-Dh).
The visit, which took place on the 8th of March 2024, was aimed at discussing potential partnerships and the establishment of a Global Research Center at Dharwad.
The Global Research Center could serve as a beacon for Technological Advancement and Innovation. The meeting was held in the Administrative block, a hub for Strategic Planning and Development.
The esteemed team from Tata Hitachi was greeted by Prof. Venkappayya R. Desai, the director of IIT Dharwad, along with a panel of faculty members.
During the visit, discussions revolved around synergizing the robust research and development ethos of IIT Dharwad with the industry-leading expertise of Tata Hitachi.
The possibility of setting up a Global Research Center at Dharwad was the highlight, suggesting a future where Industry and Academia could merge to create breakthroughs in technology and engineering.
Spread over an expanse of 118 acres, Tata Hitachi’s manufacturing facility in Dharwad started operations in 1998. Catering to the Mini and Midi Excavator and Backhoe Loader segments, 60% of Tata Hitachi’s production is rolled out from the Dharwad Plant.
Tata Hitachi Dharwad is certified to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards which reflects its commitment to Quality, Environment and Safety.
IIT Dharwad has been at the forefront of technological education and research, and this new venture promises to bolster its position as a Cradle of Innovation.
