Here is some good news! All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) to Hubballi Dharwad is under active consideration by the Central Government.
Shri Narayan Koragappa, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha from Karnataka requested the Minister of Health and Family Welfare to state the present status of AIIMS in Hubballi Dharwad.
Replying to his question Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare said that the ‘Government has plans to set up AIIMS in various parts of the country under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY)’.
‘Request for setting up AIIMS in Karnataka has been received and the site suggested by the Government at Hubballi Dharwad has also been inspected by a Central team’. she added.
All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) is a group of Autonomous government medical universities under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Recently, the Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai had requested PM Narendra Modi to establish All India Institute of Medical Science at Hubballi Dharwad.
AIIMS at Hubballi Dharwad was a long pending demand as the North Karnataka region was lacking in Healthcare facilities. The institute will surely be a big boost to the healthcare system in the North Karnataka region.
