In shocking news for the people of Hubballi Dharwad, IndiGo, the lone operator at Hubballi Airport, has decided to discontinue the Hubballi Chennai direct flight.
The unexpected move by IndiGo has caused an upset in the business community of Hubballi Dharwad. Many traders in the twin cities are dependent on Chennai for their trade requirements.
IndiGo used to operate Hubballi Chennai flight 3 days a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The last Hubballi Chennai flight is scheduled to depart on October 26th.
Hubballi Chennai flight had a healthy load of 70% on an average. As per DGCA, 1,460 passengers travelled to and from Chennai Airport (707 passengers arrived and 753 passengers departed) during Aug 2024.
Winter schedule of the DGCA for flight operations begins from October 29th, 2024. As of now, IndiGo has stopped bookings of Hubballi Chennai direct flight from October 26.
However, according to the sources of the IndiGo the move to cancel the flight is likely to be a temporary one, IndiGo may reinstate the direct flight in the near future.
Also, there are no signs of operating additional flights and introducing new flights from the Hubballi Airport in the Winter schedule. DGCA is yet to release the Winter Schedule 2024.

Passengers from the twin cities have been demanding to reintroduce Ahmedabad flight and upgrade the existing morning Bengaluru flight to Airbus A320.
