Marching towards Environmental friendly transportation, SWR has decided to run SSS Hubballi – Guntakal – SSS Hubballi Passenger train to run with Electric Loco instead of Diesel Loco.
Train No 07337/07338 SSS Hubballi – Guntakal- SSS Hubballi Daily Passenger has started running with Electric locomotive with effect from 1st June, 2022.
Running this train with Electric engine (End to End) instead of Diesel will save 2056 liters of Diesel every day. And it will save around 61,000 liters of Diesel per month.
During the financial year 2021-22, 30 trains have been converted to run on electric traction. In 2019-20 and 2020-21, Total of 48 trains – 24 in each year, have been taken converted to run on Electric traction.
From December 2021, in Hubballi Division, 3 pairs of trains i.e., T. No. 16592/16591 Mysuru – SSS Hubballi- Mysuru Hampi Express, Train No. 17225/17226 Vijayawada-SSS Hubballi- Vijayawada Amaravathi Express and T. No. 17313/17314 SSS Hubballi Dr. MGR Chennai Central- SSS Hubballi Express have been converted to run with electric engine from end to end
Train No 17415/17416 Tirupati-Kolhapur- Tirupati Haripriya Express is made to run with Electric loco between Guntakal and SSS Hubballi. Besides new train No. 17329/17330 SSS Hubballi – Vijayawada- SSS Hubballi Express is also running with the electric locomotive.
Shri Sanjeev Kishore, General Manager, South Western Railway has told that SWR is actively working to switch more number of trains to Electric traction.
‘SWR will also convert more trains gradually in the coming year, with a specific focus on sections where Electrification has already been completed’ he added.
This was made possible with the record Electrification done by SWR. During the financial year 2021-22, SWR has completed 511.7 RKM of Electrification.
