Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) will install 500 Smart Poles/Streetlights across Hubballi Dharwad soon.
The Smartpoles will have LED Displays on both sides to show Advertisements. The Smart poles will have LED lamps that will act as a Streetlight. Each pole will cost ₹ 2 Lakhs.
HDMC has already installed 2 such Smart Poles, one at Lamington Road and another at Sai Baba Temple in Hubballi city. Survey is going on to decide the places where the other Smartpoles will be established.
As per a report in Kannada Prabha by Mayur Hegde, HDMC has given the contract of erecting Smartpoles to a Bangalore-based company called Uttam Industries.
The contractor will pay the electricity bill of the Smartpoles and share 50% of the revenue generated through advertisements with the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation.
The Smart poles will be controlled from the Command Center of the HDMC. The advertisements, Brightness of Ads, and Switching on and off can be controlled by the same center.
The addition of Smart poles will definitely help to increase the beauty of twin cities by marginally reducing Banner Hoardings, Cutouts, etc, and also earn some revenue for the Corporation.
Glad to see this news about developing and improve our Hubli city street. But don’t know how will be maintain the poles lightning and don’t know people will respect to Keep clean footpaths avoid spitting GUTKHA .
