Hubballi Dharwad & Belagavi, emerging cities with GCCs

“India Tier 2 and Emerging Cities Analysis Report” by Zinnov has identified Hubballi, Dharwad, and Belagavi as Emerging Cities with the presence of Global Capability Centers (GCCs).

Global capability centres (GCCs) are Offshore units of Multinational corporations that operate across the globe. These centres are responsible for providing various support services, such as IT, Finance, Human Resources, and Analytics, to their parent organisation.

Apart from Hubballi Dharwad & Belagavi, Mysuru and Mangaluru have managed to secure a place in the Top 20 Tier-2 Cities with the presence of Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India have experienced significant growth since 2015, expanding from over 1,000 centres to more than 1,600 by FY2023.

Zinnov‘s Tier-2 cities evaluation utilized a robust framework consisting of 6 pillars and 22 sub-pillars. The primary 6 pillars of the analysis are listed below.

6 pillars: Talent advantage, Ecosystem Favourability, Social attractiveness, Connectivity to the Hub, Business Environment and Climate Vulnerability.

Some of the sub-pillars are as follows: Availability, Talent Cost, Migratable Pool, Demand Supply Gap, Number of Peer Companies, Number of Academic Institutions, and Number of Start-ups, etc.

The GCCs are broadening their scope in Tier-2 cities, extending beyond traditional Transactional works and Processes to include Strategic activities, Capitalizing on Local innovation and Talent resources.
