Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) successfully completed the Electric Loco trial run between Tolahunase and Devaragudda earlier today.
Tolahunase and Devaragudda section (Around 54RKM) is part of the Bengaluru to Hubballi Electrification project. The trial was conducted on both Up and Down lines.
Apart from the loco trial, OHE Energisation, Earth fault test was also conducted. M/s KEC International Limited has executed the Electrification work.
So as of now, around 79% of the section between Bengaluru and Hubballi is electrified. The section between KSR Bengaluru and Devaragudda is fully doubled and electrified.
Once CRS is completed, only ~100 RKM of the section between Devaragudda and Hubballi South needs to be electrified between Bengaluru and Hubballi.
Electrification work between Devaragudda and Hubballi is progressing at a brisk pace. In most of the places, the OHE foundation, Mast erection, and Wiring have been completed.
South Western Railway (SWR) has undertaken Curve straightening at a few places between Harihar and Hubballi. OHE mast erection is in progress at these places.
Union government and Ministry of Railways including officials at SWR are working hard to introduce Vande Bharat Express between Dharwad and Bengaluru via Hubballi at the earliest.
As Vande Bharat express runs on electric traction, the stakeholders are doing their best to complete the Electrification work between Bengaluru and Hubballi as soon as possible.
SWR Double tracking between Vasco and Hubali must be expedited and completed early
