Doubling of the Railway line between Dharwad and Belagavi (via Londa) is going on at a good pace and is expected to be completed soon.
As of now, the sections between Dharwad to Londa and Khanapur to Belagavi is fully doubled. CRS has inspected both the lines and commissioned it for usage.
Khanapur to Gunji has been doubled, but the CRS inspection is yet to be completed. Preparation (Ballast laying) has been going on for the rest of the sections i.e Gunji to Londa.
South Western Railway (SWR) has undertaken Pre Non-Interlocking and Non-Interlocking works at Gunji (Phase 1) and Khanapur (Phase 3) to commission the double line.
Compared to the doubling, the Electrification works in between Dharwad and Belagavi are going on at a snail’s pace.
The section in between Dharwad to Londa has been fully electrified and CRS inspection has also been completed (Part of the Hosapete Hubballi Tinai Ghat Electrification project).
But the progress in bare minimal between Londa and Khanapur. OHE masts installation has been going on at Belagavi Railway Station and in a few places between Khanapur and Belagavi.
SWR has recently cancelled a few trains as part of Pre NI/NI works at Khanapur and Gunji. The details of the same can be found in the article here.
Due to ongoing Pre Non-Interlocking and Non-Interlocking works at Gunji and Khanapur, many trains are running late in between Belagavi and Hubballi.
Belagavi Bengaluru Superfast Express which was scheduled to depart Belagavi at 9:00 PM (yesterday), departed Belagavi at 11:05 PM. The train is running late by almost 5 hours.
Even the fastest train in between Hubballi and Bengaluru, Rani Chennamma Express has become the victim of delay. The train is running late by nearly 4 hours.
The local train should start the regular routine because the passengers facing problems.
